Poems are definitely a better way to pass on our feelings and emotions to the readers. They can be of many types and categories. Making a good living in the poetry genre, however, is hard. But, it is not completely impossible. Here are some tips to start you off to become a successful poet! Steps 1Find your inspiration.Whether it's tangible or not, the key to a great poem is first finding the passion and motivation for the poem. 2Read many different poems.Try to find out what has already been written, and NEVER copy ideas or stanzas. 3Take inspiration from everywhere.Many poets take inspiration from nature, people, or events. 4Listen to lots of music.It doesn't have to have lyrics. Decide what genres you like and listen to a wide variety of artists. 5Keep a "poetry journal." Carry it everywhere you go, so that if you come up with a poem or idea, you can jot it down. 6Keep a thesaurus handy.If you want to use a word in your poem, but it doesn't rhyme or fit the rhythm, you can try to find another word that means the same thing. 7Keep a good attitude.You need to be able to accept criticism gracefully. Some people will like your poetry, others won't. Don't dwell on what the haters say. 8Don't be afraid of trying to rhyme.You don't need to rhyme as long as the poem is itself a flowing one! By 'a flowing one' I mean that the words of the poem should be such that it sounds good to the ear.
